Cargo Tails
A Western Global MD-11F sits alongside a Atlas Air 747-400F during tech stops in Anchorage before heading on to their final destinations. Anchorage is heavily used by multiple cargo airlines as an intermediate stop for flights between North America and Asia. By using an intermediate location like ANC, the fuel load can be reduced, allowing a higher cargo load to be carried, thus maximizing the volume the aircraft can carry. During these stops, the aircraft are refueled, and the crews will swap out.
