The Feathers rock formation at Frenchman Coulee in Central Washington State provides an excellent foreground for the backdrop of the milky way. This image is actually a composite of two seperate images. The first was an exposure strictly to capture the stary sky, while the second was an exposure that combnes light painting to bring out details on the rock formations.
