Mt Rainier Senic Railroad's 1929 ALCO 2-8-2 No. 17 returns to Elbe from Mineral at the end of the first steam excursion of the day. Due to the fact that the locomotive cannot be turned around, it is uncoupled from the front of the cars, brought onto a switch track, and then brought to the rear of the train, so it pulls the cars backwards on the return trip. Once in Elbe, the process is repeated.
